Factorio!
So. Another day another boerd gamer.
Factorio. This is a game I THINK everyone should try at least once. It's very much a crack game. I'm not the first to say it and I certainly won't be the last but it still is true how much like crack this game is. Although, having little to none drugs in real life this game hooks you. It infects your brain it genuiely is crack. You will look insane trying to explain how your landfilled oil land was actually the coolest thing ever... Which it is. idk it good watch this trailer

Achivements!
I think achievements in games can be pretty cool. Although we have many bad* achievement systems there are some interesting ones pushing boundaries of play, encouraging different play styles such as in portal where some achievements are locked behind completing a level in a certain number of portals or a certain amount of time. Further achievements can also just show players what's cool to do and look at such as in Skyrim where lots of side quests that are very interesting might go unnoticed by the player and the achievement list can act of a checklist of what the developers think is cool to do, like joining the thieves guild a questline I really enjoy but players might entirely miss. They are good. Factorio has some good achievements but most are simplistic achievements of craft x of y which are rather mundane in a regular game but in factorio where the aim of the game is making x it is rather satisfying.
*Obviously, in the category of bad achievements, I would put things like watchdogs, in similar games where achievements are based around completely all of the content. Although this seems correct for most games in the vein of watchdogs, the game is complete and you have seen all it can offer before you finish all the side missions that offer nothing new apart from a different environment. Also, the achievement in terraria to complete 200 fishing quests. That isn't fun, that's just fishing, why does fishing have 3 quests in terraria like why?Golem
So, to double your health you would need to increase it. In the game power armour exists to boost your health from the inhabitants of the world and provide access to cool things like... LEGS. We are just going to install shields. Energy shield MK1 has the potential to block 50 health points of damage per shield. However they aren't very space efficient (taking 2x2 space) so we might want to look for the potential upgrade... I wonder what that might be called.
Oh my gosh ENERGY SHIELD MK2 :OOOOOO. This takes up the same space in our armour but blocks 150 damage! This would make it significanlty easier as we'd only need 2 to get over 500 health.
So now we have the health we need to damage. Sadly we do have to actually survive the damage so nuclear armaments are out of the picture :(
A much more appropriate weapon would of corse be... a train. In factorio they are notoriously deadly for caring little for players foolish enough to stumble onto the track seemingly at ANY time as it doesn't matter how many times you check it is almost a train will hit you dare you cross a track. Obviously leading to the achivmeent opposite Golem being.
Well now we have the health and the weapon time to put this into practise!
And just like that I got the achivement!
Mass Production 3
Damn Arnold, you might be saying, haven't you played factorio for like... 200 hours how don't you have this achivement?
Well, first thing first I ACTUALLY HAVE 242.8 hours so that's wrong
Secondly, 20,000,000 is a big number it would take 20,000,000 seconds to count to 20,000,000 at 1 number a second!
Finally, crafting one electronic circuit has many steps in it. Like 7?
Let's break it down!
Step I: Mining The Copper
You have the mine the copper.
When mining by hand it takes 2 seconds to mine one copper.
We need... looks at notes.1.5 copper per circuit!
Does maths...
6000000 Seconds
or 100000 minuites
or 1666 hours...
or 69 days... nice...
Step II: Mining The Iron
69 days later we need to think about the iron...
Unsuprisingly, iron also takes 2 seconds to mine!
Luckily ONLY 1 iron per circuit!So this is so much less ONLY
4,000,000 Seconds
or 46 Days!
So like SOOOO much less time. only still more time than I've spent on the game!
Step III: Melting the Copper
So time to make this ORE into real deal PLATES!So we need to cook the copper in a furnace!
This takes... 0.32 seconds per plate So!
0.32 * 3,000,000 = ONLY 11 days!
nope 3.2 seconds per plate... 111 days.
Step IV: Melting the Iron
You know the deal 3.2 seconds per plate.So we need to cook the copper in a furnace!
This takes... 3.2 seconds per plate So!
3.2 * 2,000,000 = ONLY 74 days!
Step V: Those Furnaces needed fuel right?
You know that what 185 days of furnacing we just did?Each second required 0.0225 coal.
so ... 185 *86400=15984000 Seconds
15984000*0.0225 = 359640 coal.
359640 coal would take 8 days to mine.
At this point my 10 days in the game don't seem so bad and we haven't even started crafting!
Step VI: Crafting...
So now we we have all the raw resources we must craft all the copper into wireFortunately 1 copper gives us 2 wire in half a second. So 2 copper is proceseded per second!
3000000 / 2 = 1500000 seconds!
Again, a small 17 days...
Step VII: Crafting Part 2
Every together easy craft into a final circuit board.Half a second for each Electronic Circuit.
2,000,000*0.5 = 1,000,000 Seconds!
12 days!
In total this would take 337 days if you were able to perfectly craft hold everything with only crafting and furnacing happening. This is why I don't have the achivement just yet... Soon tho Should I cover how?
